At first I thought “The President? That’s like the hood ornament on our burning Ford Pinto of a government."
"Nothing the President does really matters. We can withstand a fool for 4 short (😓) years. It’ll just go autopilot and they’ll keep him distracted with compliments.”
But now my city is in shambles from a pandemic that didn’t need to be one fifth as bad as it is.
Now, shops are boarded up from largely justified protest actions taken in defiance of the overtly racist culture, policies and outcomes that Trump regularly defends.
Now, my medical insurance cost is through the roof.
The entire left side of the country is on fire.
I really can’t tell you anymore that the President doesn’t matter.
I don’t have to understand the intricacies of public policy to recognize a buffoon, or the damage that’s been done to my life since we handed him the keys.
Trump is good for no one, and only appeals to his base as a sort of deadly prank on the rest of us. If you are one of those people, please consider abandoning the display. It’s clear you’re hurting and mad, but let’s find other ways to communicate.
We are literally dying (210K as of now) for a normal, functioning adult to inhabit the role of President. In a pinch, any two-legged creature without rabies would do.
